Two hand-built vans and a roof tent, 3 km from the waves of Hossegor.
RB-CapSO is a small workshop in Capbreton, on the Atlantic coast of the Landes in south-west France. Romain Bausseron, a former firefighter turned van builder, designs and fits out campervans by hand, then rents them out for trips along the coast, into the French Basque Country and beyond. You book directly with him, with no platform in between.

Keys are handed over in person. At the workshop, Romain walks you round the van, does the check-in inspection with you and gives you tips for the road. Coming by train? Pick-up at Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse station is possible on request, to be agreed when your booking is confirmed.

The roof tent costs €50 a day all year round, or €65 a day with the camping gear (battery, cool box, stove, table and chairs, tableware, water tank, solar shower and dry toilet).
Mileage
With the vans, 100 km a day are included. You can switch to 200 km a day for €15 extra per day, or to unlimited mileage for €25 extra per day. Each kilometre beyond your package costs €0.30.
Extras and fees
- Surfboard, stand-up paddleboard or canoe-kayak: €10 a day each.
- Bed linen kit: €25 per rental.
- Service fee: €70 per rental, non-refundable.
- Deposit: €2,000 for the vans, €500 for the roof tent, by cheque, not cashed, returned within 5 working days after the vehicle comes back.
How it works
Booking in four steps
- Choose your dates. The online calendar (in French) shows the availability of each vehicle, and the price updates as you pick your dates and options.
- Romain confirms. Within 24 to 48 hours, by email or phone. Nothing is paid before he confirms.
- Sign the contract online. From your phone, with your ID. The full rental price is paid when you sign; the deposit is given at pick-up.
- Collect the keys. At the workshop, or at Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse station on request: tour of the van, check-in inspection, tips for the road.
Cancellation: full refund more than 30 days before departure, 50% from 15 to 30 days, 25% from 7 to 14 days, no refund under 7 days. The €70 service fee is never refunded.

Around Hossegor with a campervan
- Hossegor. La Gravière, the best-known surf spot on the coast, the calm saltwater lake for swimming and paddling, and the market and terraces in the centre.
- Seignosse, 8 km away. Wide beaches at Le Penon and Les Bourdaines, the wilder Les Casernes, and the Étang Blanc and the boardwalks of the Étang Noir nature reserve.
- The Basque Country. Bayonne is 25 km away, then Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz and the inland villages. The Spanish border is about an hour from Capbreton.
- Where to sleep. Overnight parking is not allowed on the beach car parks along the coast. Campsites and motorhome areas are the way to go; Romain shares his favourite places when you pick up the keys.

Frequently asked questions
What driving licence do I need?
A category B (standard car) licence is enough for both vans. Drivers who have held their licence for less than 3 years are not allowed to drive RB-CapSO vehicles.
Where do I pick up the van?
At the workshop, 9 rue du Hapchot, 40130 Capbreton, 3 km from Hossegor. Pick-up at Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse railway station is possible on request, to be agreed when your booking is confirmed.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, pets are welcome on board, under your responsibility. Any damage or dirt caused by an animal is deducted from the deposit.

Can I drive the van to Spain?
The border is about an hour from Capbreton. Ask Romain when you book: the conditions depend on the vehicle and the length of the rental.

Yes, the vehicles are insured by RB-CapSO. If you are responsible for an accident, an additional €3,000 excess applies to any driver who is not named on the rental contract.
